NHS DENTIST FOR LOOE

Dear All, For a couple of years now I have been talking to the Primary Care Trust (PCT)over getting a Adult NHS dental practice in Looe after the closure of the last practice in December 2010. On Friday I met with the people responsible for commissioning dental services and was assured by their first comment that money was in the system to provide this service for Looe. Yet they also told me that currently there are a very small number of people on the register expressing a need for a NHS dentist in Looe. Having had many conversations about the problems with residents over getting to and from Liskeard and many other places to get dental cover. It is obvious that many residents are either not registering with a dentist or are travelling to be able to get to a NHS dentist. It would be helpful if residents were to register with the PCT and express a need to have a Adult NHS dentist in Looe even if you are registered with another practice in another town but would want to save on travelling. The officers i met will be will be contacting practices county wide to see if someone will want to open a practice in Looe.
